Wardrobe Design
|
|
Now that you have an idea as to what body shape you are and the
personal style and image that you wish to project, the next step
is to understand, to dress well, you only need a small wardrobe
of versatile garments that combines your workplace and lifestyle.

|
1. Make a list of all
of your activities over a period of a month and work out how much
time you spend per activity
This will give you an
idea as to where you should allocate your money when putting your
wardrobe together. For example,
- 8 -10
hours - working, which includes travelling
- 8 hours
- sleeping
- 4 -
5 hours - leisure
- 1-2
hour s- cooking/eating

2. Work out a
realistic budget for each fashion season and stick to it
The quickest way to work
out a budget is to look at your
- clothes
- shoes and
- ccessories
and add up how much you have spent.
This can be quite an interesting exercise;
you may have spent more than what you thought! From here you can determine
how much you need to spend next season.

3.
When choosing your colours, think of the image that you wish to convey
- to the world
and make sure that the colours complement this image. Remember
that colours convey strong emotional feelings and must be appropriate
for the occasion and your personality.

|
4. Clean out your current
wardrobe
If you have a wardrobe
cluttered with clothes that are no longer of use, then why are they
still there? Maybe, you are hanging onto them 'just in case'!
A wardrobe that works is one in which every item can be clearly seen
and accessible (no more cluttered chests!) and only the items you
currently wear.
Be ruthless; get rid of what you don't need. From here you will be
able to see what you have in your wardrobe and what you will need
to buy for this season's Basic Wardrobe.

5. The Basic Wardrobe
You need to identify the number of basic garments that
you will need for your particular lifestyle (based on question 1).
You should be looking for, what I call Smart Basics.
And you will find them in our collection. Look for clothing in solid
colours, that are plain and simple that can be worn with many different
items and fabrics that can be combined with other fabrics.
